A planar compilation

Since we are about to receive a new planar nexus in June, this is a round-up of various variant takes on the planes I have found over time (plus resources for Planescape itself at the bottom).

A pair of magnificent planar cosmology variations for your sages to argue over - Hexian cosmologies by Bearded Devil and Planescape variations by Locheil.

Scrap Princess did an extended take on the planes in 'Planescrap' with a lot of great stuff in there including a generator for Sigil in "Planes scape some tables for Sigil (Scrawled over mix)".

This post on settings that deal with the underworld, Hell, or the afterlife to some degree by Ynas Midgard.

Mystara's Plane of Fire with Map on the Piazza.org.

u/Insanely_Lucid has worked up a fantastic map of the elemental plane of fire in Inkarnate A roster of planar paths

The spectral plane on Daddy Grognard

Life after death as part of D&D on Troll and Flame

Planar cultures on What Would Conan Do? They are right, what they believe is true, you are weird.

A great online Planescape resource round-up can be found on Planar DM.

Another Random Place Generator (Sigil + Planes) on Perchance.org

A keyed map of Sigil on Nether-whisper

If you want to try a different system, Sig: City of Blades is a Forged in the Dark take, though you ought to be familiar with the system.

Other planar publications I have looked at before:

The Hell-crawl in NOD magazine by Jon Stater.

Dark Roads & Golden Hells plus Shadow Planes & Pocket Worlds from Kobold Press, clear and readable with some good bits even for old planar hands.

Pathfinder Planar Adventures with interesting sites and a focus on visitable spots puts lots of useful inspiration in your hands.

Kefitzah Haderech - Incunabulum of the Uncanny Gates and Portals a neat DMs toolbox for using portals in your game, full of useful generators and pithy guidance.

The Infinite Staircase - buy this for page 15. You get 96 beautiful bonus pages to make a beast of a book that will turbo-charge planar campaigns.

Ulraunts Guide to Acheron a beefy planar tome focusing on just the Plane of War; just the ticket if you want to set a campaign there.

  1. Serendipitous timing - I just finished a post on planar theories among wizards.
