Similar to what other sources show, the lions share of new campaigns in the past 3 years have been D&D 5e. It looks broadly like a consolidation of systems. - 20 games to get 80% of campaigns for first 12 years - 10 games to get to same mark in last 3

'other' 20% has increased in variety
up to 2019 = bottom 20% covered 244 games
2019-2022 = bottom 20% covers 308 games ~ 25% increase

This all looks similar to what we have seen on Roll20 or other polls. The signs are that ~ 2/3 of games being played are D&D 5e. On Obsidian portal it looks more like a zero-sum game than Roll20. Where Roll20 is seeing growth of users such that reducing share of old editions and other games are still absolutely more users, the number of new campaigns/year for Obsidian Portal is roughly stable so more 5e is less anything else. Having said that, the non-5e playing cohort appears to be playing a wider variety of games.
For a next step to this, I will try to pull annual slices from the Wayback Machine to see if we can track any of this year on year. Obsidian Portal has been around since 2007 so this could allow us to push back the veil a couple of years from the earliest Roll20 Orr report in 2014.
