Carousing table for the ruin-filled swamplands

To encourage the squandering of gold for XP accrual I came up with the following carousing table for my Hexcrawl25 campaign. Given that most of the players are veterans of my Brancalonia 'Bay of Princes' campaign, I adapted the Brancalonia Revelry table - you go carousing and always roll; high is good.

To adapt a little towards encouraging the squandering of gold, I have players declare what gold they are squandering and then roll.

The entries were cooked up partly inspired by events so far in the campaign and partly by the local cultures and ruins. These were then combined with a spark list of possible effects and consequences - fights, good times, reputation changes, followers, hitpoints, contacts and romantic partners, allies, enemies, illness, rumours. Stirring them all together gives us the rough table below.

d20 Revelrous Incidents
1 Local adventurer wannabes challenge you to a duel; gain xp for gold spent and flee town or face them at noon.
2 A mirror-eyed stranger questions your hygiene, wit, courage and honour - you return their insult in equal measure; gain XP for gold spent and you have an appointment for a magic duel at the next dusk.
3 Got lost on the way to the outhouse; gain half xp for gold spent, stumbled about the swamp for most of the night, loose 2hp to biting insects, gain knowledge of a local nocturnal beast you hid from.
4 Wake for cult victims; you find yourself caught up in a memorial event, drinking the strongest local spirits over tales of the recent lost. XP for gold spent, check charisma to avoid disgracing yourself and earning the emnity of the locals
5 A gleeful trio of goliaths in from croc hunting have cages of intoxicating insects they are willing to share the bites and stings of; XP for gold spent, lose 1hp per 10gp
6 Mead from ancient insectfolk honey - get lost in a time twist for a subjective five days of clambering through hexcomb cells, traversing gravity-shifting vaults and witnessing insectfolk from tiny to huge packing and unpacking themselves - XP for 2 x gold spent and emerge later that night with a mysterious tome, two levels of exhaustion
7 Bogwine - stained bottles trawled from the murky swamp depths shared with a shuddering group of delvers; gain XP for gold spent, constitution save to avoid a debilitating sickness
8 Wizards tower plunder - dreadful liqours pulled from some arcane wreck; your being unimpressed goes down badly with the overly proud bandaged survivors. Gain XP for gold spent, Con save to avoid a mutation lasting d6 days
9 Gambling with locals - as the drink flows local rivalries flare and bets are laid on deeply obtuse traditional contests - gain xp for gold spent, roll d6 (1-3 lose additional d10x10 gp, 4-6 gain d10x10gp. winnings can be spent for more xp)
10 Down an alley, around a corner you find a shrine to a small god where the local youths meet after dark; raided drinks are cheaply shared - xp for gold spent, up to 10, check charisma for whether it leads to fisticuffs or romance
11 A fine night with local beer and the farmers and craftsfolk; they willingly cheer on your tales of epic deeds and even stand some rounds. You are heartened but a tame enough night; xp per gold spent up to 20, gain the respect of the locals
12 A venture to the cellar finds the goblin market in full swing; you drink things you cannot name, feast on strange delicacies at crammed together stalls as goblins shriek for your attention; gain 50xp plus xp for gold spent, wisdom save or feel compelled to seek the market again

Exhumed dwarven spirits fuel a night of tales and grand boasts. Gain double XP for gold spent and a solid understanding of local folklore and legend
19 Stumble into a local religious festival; get inducted into their rites - roll d6 (1 geased with quest, 2-5 inductee of good standing, 6 auspicious signs - gain inspiration), gain xp for gold spent
